What is unique about the EZ Design Program?
EZ Design is the first easy-to-use program using digital software created by SketchUp® that allows users to design glass block applications and illustrate them through scaled drawings and 3D models.

How does the program work?
Much like doodling on a napkin, the technology of the SketchUp® conceptual design software allows EZ Design users to start their design with loose proportions and add exact dimensions and details at any time. EZ Design features a unique user interface, an intelligent guidance system with intuitive point and click modifications, and tutorial to streamline the 3D drawing process without extensive training.

EZ Design features a customized Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block library to enable users to create real designs with drawings illustrated in 3D using any shape, style or size of Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block.

Are there any pre-designed applications in the program?
Yes, you will find 11 different applications of glass block showers, already designed.

Will the program tell you how many blocks and accessories are needed for the application designed?
Yes, the exact number count of each type of block used is provided, along with the different accessories needed to build the application.

Will the program also provide design capability and scaled drawings and dimensions for a traditional mortar application?
Yes, the program is designed to work with a traditional mortar application or with the new ProVantageTM Installation System. The joint thickness and accessories needed for each installation system are different, and this is taken into account.

How does EZ Design fit with existing technology?
EZ Design is compatible with current technology used in the architectural design community. The program can accept DWG/DXF import/export and has cross-platform functionality for both Windows and Mac users.

How can the program be acquired and is there a charge?
The EZ Design tool with SketchUp® software can be purchased by visiting www.pittsburghcorning.com. At this location, you will be able to download the EZ Design Glass Block Library and SketchUp® software.

A license to use the software can be purchased for $475.00 with unlimited use, and this entitles the user to regular upgrades and new information from SketchUp® and the EZ Design Glass Block Library.

Can the program be tried before purchasing?
Yes, the program can be downloaded and used for 8 hours at no charge before deciding to purchase.

Will the program work with any glass block product?
No, the program and glass block library have been especially developed for Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block products, systems and accessories. All material is copyrighted.

Can the program be used to design structures or applications and produce 3D models other than for glass block?
Absolutely, this is the beauty of the program. Although EZ Design is primarily a glass block design tool, the SketchUp® software will allow the user to design and configure virtually any 3D model, whether for Residential or Architectural buildings. Therefore, EZ Design is also a handy tool for designing kitchens, bathrooms, building envelopes, etc.

What is the estimated time needed to become fairly proficient in using the program?
The Glass Block EZ Design tutorial disk helps to accelerate the learning process. The SketchUp® Program by design is intuitively easy to use. Most users can become proficient in designing glass block applications in 3-4 hours.
