FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Pittsburgh Corning's New KWiK 'N EZ® Rigid Track Silicone System Turns Glass Block Installation into a DIY Project

PITTSBURGH, June, 2000 - With Pittsburgh Corning's new KWiK'N EZ® Rigid Track Silicone System, installing glass block is now a job for DIYers. This do-it-yourself system offers a totally new way to create an all-glass, crystal-like appearance, without mortar, and in a fraction of the time.

The KWiK'N EZ Rigid Track System is designed to be used with Pittsburgh Corning's Thinline™ Series Glass Block, which are a nominal three inches thick and are available in three different design patterns.

The system is recommended for residential, interior, flat panels of 85 square feet or less, that are framed on at least three sides. Exterior panels can be created but should not exceed 25 square feet and must be framed on all four sides.

The new KWiK'N EZ Rigid Track Silicone System Kit includes:

  • 3-36-inch Pieces Rigid Track Horizontal Spacer
  • 12-7¾-inch Pieces Rigid Track Vertical Spacer
  • 1-tube Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block Sealant
  • 1-Striking Tool
  • 1-Step-by-Step Installation Instructions

Virtually all other tools and material needed for installation are common household items, such as a fine tooth saw, screwdriver, utility knife, caulking gun, tape measure, rubber mallet and two-foot level.

"Many homeowners want to use glass block in a project, but would rather install the product themselves," Pittsburgh Corning Product Manager, Bob DeGusipe said. "By creating easy DIY systems like KWiK'N EZ Rigid Track more homeowners can enjoy the aesthetic beauty of glass block."

Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block products are available at select home centers and from authorized Pittsburgh Corning distributors across the country.
